Media Socialists meetup

Posted by Vanessa on Saturday, July 14, 2007

We had a Media Socialists / Librarians / Gahmenbloggers gathering yesterday at the Toa Payoh Community Library. There were many librarians and educators. I missed the beginning part of the talk, but apparently it was on ideas for Library 2.0. I’m not going to fluff this bit, so feel free to add on to this via comments or trackback.

There was some show and tell at the end. John Larkin demonstrated how to create a Swiki for Singapore libraries, while Kevin showed us Twitter, Jaiku and Pownce. Ivan showed us how to get lots of free storage space save a piece of web history by using Archive.org. He wanted to play this song but the sound didn’t work, so maybe you can try listening to it now.

The discussion got pretty interesting because we booked the room up to 8.30pm and overstayed by half an hour. Someone mentioned it was reminiscent of the first (and only other) Gahmenbloggers meetup.

Thanks to Ivan for arranging the venue! Here are some photos taken by Siva.
