As corporations start to move towards advertising on blogs, bloggers need to be aware that this form of monetisation comes at a price, namely the loss of some control over what content appears in that space.

Ad on Zeldman.comWhen I read Zeldman’s recent post “Email is not a platform for design”, what caught my eye was the ad placed beside the article, “HTML Email Design & Coding tips from MailChimp”.

Jeffrey Zeldman is probably one of the most altruistic web designers you can find out there, and The Deck from Coudal one of the most respected advertising networks in the industry. Even in this best-case-scenario of a partnership the loss of editorial control makes Jeffrey appear a little contradictory.
