This week was an exciting one for social media.

First, some of us got to meet Cory and Jean from Linden Labs on Thursday, over at the Idea Factory. Considering how there were a few journalists present, there are signs that mainstream media is showing interest in the development of virtual worlds in Singapore.

Following that, on Saturday the Straits Times featured Alvin Loo and his project to build Lion City, a representation of Singapore in Second Life. Here’s the slurl for it, if you’re a Second Lifer. And here’s the link to the new SL Singapore blog.

We also had Nexus 2007 and it was good to see some familiar faces. They’re trying something interesting with their press release. Call it an ‘un-press release’ if you wish, to borrow the meaning from ‘unconference’. The attendees get to write it, instead of the organisers. Let’s see how things turn out.
