IDA announced earlier in the year that Singaporeans would enjoy free wifi starting in 2007 through 2008. 3 Singapore-based providers have submitted their proposals, namely Singtel, iCELL Network, and QMax, which is run by Creative Labs.
Being pragmatists, we all know that coverage probably will not extend to remote corners of Sungei Buloh. So Ivan our favourite librarian pointed us to the coverage areas. On the page. the folks at IDA demonstrate their web 2.0ness by provided KML files for Google Earth, but fail to provide maps on plain HTML. They’re all in PDF files. I applaud the move forward, but graceful degradation is still something being overlooked in Singapore.
Go on, go check if you need to relocate to tap on to the free wifi, or to escape the brain-tumour inducing electromagnetic waves that will be passing through your neighbourhood.
